The global Point of Care Infection Market size was USD 44.71 Billion in 2021 and is expected to register a revenue CAGR of 3.5% during the forecast period. Increasing number of surgical procedures, necessity to reduce likelihood of Hospital Acquired Infections (HAI), and rising focus on food sterilization are key factors driving growth of the global Point of Care Infection Market.

HAIs are a serious concern for both patients and healthcare providers. According to estimates, there are 1.7 million hospital-acquired infections each year and almost 100,000 of these cases lead to death. Healthcare workers are often exposed to bacteria, fungi, or viruses that cause infections. There are four common healthcare procedures, in which infections occur such as surgery, catheter, insertion, and injections including catheter-associated urinary tract infections and pneumonia caused by ventilators. In addition, increasing number of HAIs and contagious virus-related diseases are driving demand for infection control measures. Technological advancement and public awareness have contributed to a rise in surgical processes, which is leading to an increase in demand for infection control. Number of Surgical Site Infections (SSI) accounted for 14% to 17% of all hospital-acquired infections and 38% of all nosocomial infections in surgical patients. According to data from 2019, over 1.84 million surgeries were conducted in registered hospitals in the U.S. Moreover, infections causing germs or bacteria require proper sanitation and surgical tools and equipment need to be sterilized and disinfected to minimize spread of diseases, thus, infection control measures are needed to reduce spread of infection among patients and hospital staff. An infection control strategy aims to prevent spread of infections between individuals. The best way to control infection is to maintain good hand hygiene and wear personal protective equipment such as gloves, masks, and eye protection. The total production of 3M masks accounted to 2.5 billion units worldwide in 2021. This practice promotes a healthy and hygienic environment. These factors are expected to drive market revenue growth during the forecast period.

Top Players in the Global Point of Care Infection Market:

3M, Steris, Fortive, Belimed, Inc., Metrex Research, LLC., Reckitt Benckiser Group PLC, Kingspan Group, Halyard Health, Inc., Matachana, and Miele Cie. KG.

However, limited amount of time to complete multiple tasks is expected to hamper market revenue growth during the forecast period. Infection Preventionists (IPs) are facing increased data reporting responsibilities in hospitals, resulting in less time to devote to other safety initiatives such as increasing hand hygiene, decreasing antibiotic resistance, and reducing transmission of multi-drug resistant organisms. Identifying potential issues related to environment care, equipment cleaning, and sterilization requires frequent rounding and ability to quickly compile and communicate findings to stakeholders. These problems need to be addressed sooner, to enable hospital staff to spend more time focusing on direct patient care. These factors are expected to hamper market revenue growth during the forecast period.
